Chasing Beauty: The price of perfection

The second season of the documentary series Chasing Beauty once again delves into the world of beauty and the ideal image often driven by social media and trends. But this time, we also shed light on the other side – what happens if you’re not satisfied and wish to turn back the clock after plastic surgery?

More and more women and men are opting for aesthetic surgery, and research shows that demand will only continue to grow in the coming years.

However, the ideal image shaped by social media is just as trend-sensitive as fashion. While the BBL (Brazilian Butt Lift) was all the rage not long ago, ‘Kardashian reverse BBL’ is now one of the most searched terms on Google. Increasingly, people are seeking confirmation that prominent curves are out and skinny is back in.

Once again, the camera follows several women and men as they step into the operating room. From extreme procedures such as rib removal to achieve a slimmer waist, to sculpting a six-pack using one’s own fat. We also tell the stories of women who regret their impulsive decisions. Was it truly a step toward lifelong happiness, or did they end up disappointed, wishing for nothing more than to turn back time?

Why do these women and men choose aesthetic surgery, and how significant is the stigma surrounding it? What impact does social media have on their self-image and the decisions they make?

Through their experiences, interwoven with insights from various experts, viewers are given plenty to reflect on.
